Mr. Golgi Body

Mr. Golgi Body provides very basic functions of the organelle such as modifying, sorting, and packaging proteins and lipids. While these functions are helpful to the cell, Mr. Golgi Body doesn't have experience or a job that requires leadership. It simply takes orders from Mr. Nucleus and follows directions as a passive organelle.

Alzheimer's Disease

Any changes to the Golgi's proteome disrupts its function and leads to disease. Mr. Golgi Body has been directly linked to causing Alzheimer's Disease, a non-reversible brain disorder, and Achondrogenesis, a group of severe disorders that affect cartilage and bone development. Achondrogenesis occurs when the microtubules within Mr. Golgi Body fail to function.

Mr. Chloroplast | Discriminatory Organelle

     Discriminatory Organelle Unfit for Eukarya

Mr. Chloroplast

Some of you may not be familiar with Mr. Chloroplast, because he is only active in plant cells. His discriminatory practices make him biased and an unfair organelle. Chloroplast doesn't understand the needs of all cells of Eukarya, because it excludes animal cells. 

Chloroplast NADPH-thioredoxin reductase (NTRC) controls metabolic and regulatory pathways in plants. When it is absent, it alters gene expression and create imbalanced metabolic activities. If chloroplast doesn't perform his functions, the plant cell would not gain energy that has been coverted from sun light into sugars.While chloroplast is essential to some cells, it is not beneficial to all cells and organelles of Eukarya. Because it doesn't know all of the citizens of Eukarya, it is the least knowledgeable candidate for Organelle in Chief.

Mr. Rough ER | Criminal Organelle

Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum Criminal Records Found!

Mr. Rough ER

Mr. Rough ER lives up to his name. Rough around the edges, he not only has a criminal history but also takes up 50% of the cell, leaving little room for others. 

Mr. Rough ER is an unforgiving organelle. His role in many diseases have plagued his record with foul play.  

After researching his background, we came across his criminal records. Let's take a look.

1st Offense: Domestic violence by ER stress. Mr. Rough ER caused an accumulation of unfolded or misfolded protetins.

Status: Probation for 1 year.

2nd Offense: First degree murder by Parkinson's Disease and Alzheimer's Disease.

Status: 12 years in prison.

3rd Offense: Assault. Mr. Rough ER activated JNK who assisted him in insulin resistance through phosphorylating insulin receptor substrate. 
Status: 5 years in prison.

Parkinson's Disease

Type II Diabetes

While under stress, Mr Rough ER's functions are impaired causing alteration to protein homeostasis. If Mr. Rough ER served as Organelle in Chief, he would crack under pressure, and it would be humiliating for Eukarya to have a criminal in office.

Mr. Lysosome | Garbage Organelle

                                   Garbage Organelle for Organelle in Chief?

Mr. Lysosome

Mr. Lysosome has little background in politics. As a high school drop out, Mr. Lysosome works as a garbage organelle, picking up trash off the streets of Eukarya. The only skill Mr. Lysosome posesses is breaking down biological matter, which is not a highly valuable asset. He is the least qualified candidate, because of his lack of experience in leadership.

Lysosomal Storage Disorder

Lysosomal storage disorders are common failures. Caused by a deficiency of specific enzymes, LSDs prevent complex carbohydrates from being broken down. When lysosomal enzymes aren't present, glycosaminoglycans leave residue buildup in the cell. This accumulation leads to cellular malfunction.

Defects in the lysosomal system have also been linked to neonatal intestinal disorders which prevent infants from getting needed nutrients.

Mr. Nucleus | Tyrannical Organelle

                     Organelle in Chief or Tyrant of Eukarya? You Choose!

Mr. Nucleus

As a long time opponent of Mr. Mitochondria, Mr. Nucleus has revealed his true colors over time. While he serves an important part in giving direction, it is unfortunate that his personality and work ethic degrades his value. Mr. Nucleus exemplifies a tyrannical organelle. Instead of overseeing, he abuses his power by dictating and leaving hard work such as synthesizing proteins and creating energy to other organelles. His self-boasting characteristics make him an insincere candidate.

Many times Mr. Nucleus has let down his cell by passing on genetic mutations or allowing faulty cell division. Through genetic defects and disorders, Mr. Nucleus has caused diseases such as: Cornelia De Lange Syndrome, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and Treacher Collins Syndrome.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy

Spinal Muscular Atrophy is a fatal example of Mr. Nucleus' poor work ethic. Nuclear lamins, which are proteins that line the inner surface of the nuclear envelope, have caused defects expressed as muscular or cardiomypathies, neuropathies, and lipdystrophies.

He ensures cellular respiration by taking in nutrients, breaking them down, and creating energy rich molecules. As an advocate of non-discriminatory practices, Mr. Mitochondria provides energy to all organelles and beings of  Eukarya.
